| The following information
is intended for registered applicants for temporary work and employees
of Career Connections. You can find important details about communication,
time slips, paychecks, and other policies described below. There are
many more important policies written in the Welcome Brochure you were
given during your interview and about which you signed an Agreement
of Understanding. If you need another copy of the brochure, just stop
by the office during business hours and request one.
Our Mission
Career Connections provides a service to the employers in the area
and that is who we charge for our efforts. We are not a “job
service” nor a “head hunter,” we do not charge
our applicants a fee, nor do we operate in such a manner that we
will be actively seeking a position on your behalf. Completing our
application process does not mean you have been hired, nor does
it mean you have been guaranteed a job.
All job opportunities, whether temporary or permanent, are dependent
entirely upon our clients’ needs. You will hear from us when
we have a job order that matches your qualifications, objectives,
and availability. For that reason, we encourage you to let us know
about any changes in your situation so we can keep our records up-to-date,
especially anything that would make you more qualified or available
than when you applied.Click here for
the update information page.
Career Connections’ Commitment to You
* We commit to hiring only the best-qualified individuals, thus
assuring the excellence of our reputation and enabling us to secure
the most beneficial assignments for our employees.
* We commit to a policy of Equal Opportunity, recognizing that all
people regardless of race, religion, gender, age, national origin,
physical or mental handicap, or sexual orientation have the inalienable
right to be referred for assignments based solely on their skills,
experience and deportment.
* We commit to compensating our employees at our mutually agreed
salary rates, and to reviewing our employees regularly with the
intent of rewarding those whose work quality, cooperativeness, punctuality
and professional conduct consistently receive outstanding ratings
from our clients with increased pay rates and/or responsibilities.
Your Commitment to Career Connections
* You commit to work diligently at each assignment, recognizing
that our clients expect and deserve your best efforts and that your
conduct will reflect not only on you but on all Career Connections
employees.
* You commit to being punctual, productive, cooperative, appropriately
attired for each assignment and to respect all client policies.
* You commit to informing our staff immediately of any developments
which might impede the completion of any assignment.
* You commit to treating all information you learn on an assignment
as the confidential property of that client and agree never to disclose
that information to our clients’ competitors or any other
individual.
Important Information About Getting Paid
Operating Hours – Our normal office hours are 8
a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday-Friday (and until 5:30 p.m. on Fridays
for paycheck pickup). If you need to contact us during off-hours,
please leave a message on our answering machine. We will call you
back as soon as possible.
Time Slip Completion – Take your time slip with
you daily on each assignment. Record the time you begin work, leave
at the end of the day, total number of hours worked (lunch excluded)
and any authorized overtime. Make sure your time slip is completed
and signed by your supervisor each week
• Leave the yellow copy of the time slip with the supervisor
who signed it.
• Keep the pink copy of the time slip for your records.
• Get the white copy to Career Connections:
– You may fax it to the fax number listed on the time slip.
If you have faxed in your time slip, please throw away the original,
i.e., we do not want to receive duplicates. Also, if you have faxed in your time slip, you may want to call the office to confirm that we received it. If we did not receive it due to a fax machine malfunction, your paycheck will be delayed.
– You may drop it off in person by walking it into the receptionist
or putting it in the drop box (hanging on the building next to the
mailboxes). The drop box may be used any time of the day or night.
– You may mail your time slip to the office but keep in mind
that if it arrives any later than Tuesday’s mail, your paycheck
will be delayed.
• If you work for more than one client during the same week,
you must fill out a separate time slip for each assignment.
Time Slip Return – It is your responsibility to
complete your time slips and submit them to our office on time.
We must receive your signed time slip(s) by Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.
following the week worked. A late time slip will result in a late
paycheck. If you run out of time slips, it is your responsibility
to ask for more before you need them.
• There is a downloadable time slip
available on this website, or you can call the office and have a
one faxed to you.
Time Slip Return
• If, for reasons beyond your control, you cannot get your
time slip into the office on time, call us and ask for instructions.
• We will not process time slips that are over 30 days
old.
• Submitting your time slip by the deadline is a requirement,
not an option – late time slips complicate the processes of
invoicing, attendance tracking, and payroll.
• If you lose your completed time slip, call us and ask for
instructions.
• You will be taxed as a weekly employee regardless of the
number of time slips being paid on one paycheck. This means if you
miss the deadline, the late time slip(s) will be added to the time
slip for the following week making your gross income for that week
larger. This will cause an increase in the amount of federal and
state income taxes to be withheld. If you are overtaxed, you will
be entitled to a refund from the IRS and State of Ohio at the end
of the year.
• Abuse of time slip policies and deadlines will be considered
testimony to your reliability and will affect future employment
opportunities with Career Connections. Chronic abuse will result
in your termination and application inactivation.
Paychecks –
You may pick up your paycheck in the office between 12:00 p.m.
and 5:30 p.m. on the Friday following the deadline by which your
time slip was submitted.
• We will only release your paycheck to someone else or mail
it to a different address if you have given us specific instructions
to do so.
• If your check is not picked up on Friday, it will be mailed
to the address you provided on your W-4 form unless you make other
arrangements with us.
• We are happy to hold your paycheck in the office to be
picked up on another day if you have given us specific instructions
to do so.
Communication
We strive to keep clear lines of communication with our employees
but communication is a two-way street; we need to hear your feedback!
Call us if:
• you are going to be late or cannot report to your assignment;
• your assignment is significantly different from what we
described;
• your assignment is lengthened, shortened or considered complete
by the client;
• the offer of a permanent position has been extended to you
by our client.
Keep Us Updated!
There is an update questionnaire
on our website, you can also call or send us an e-mail
anytime of the day or night. We are especially interested in the
following details:
• change of name, address, phone number, or tax deductions
(we need address changes even after you are no longer actively employed
by us until after you receive your year-end W-2);
• always keep us informed of your availability, whether or
not you are on an assignment.
