Payroll Transfer Service

Our Payroll Transfer Service (PTP) service provides you with the control you need to maintain a quality work force without the hassles of being an employer. Career Connections is a professional employer who can handle the fiscal management of some or all of your staff. This can be the ideal solution for a small sole proprietorship who wants to avoid becoming an employer at all, or for a large company who has an occasional need for specific people to work for limited periods of time, or for a variety of other situations.

Temporary Rehire – You are anticipating a peak workload. The work requires previous experience. What you need is a former employee who is familiar with the procedure but who is no longer on your payroll. You know someone who is qualified, available, and interested, but you cannot rehire because of company policy. Call Career Connections – we will hire the person to do your work for you. s

Special Skills Project – You have a special project to get done and the skills required are such that you want to do your own screening and selection, but you know the position is temporary and you do not want the risk of an unemployment claim at layoff time. Call Career Connections – we will take the risk.

Reduce Paperwork – You want to do your own recruiting, screening, hiring, firing, etc., but you are not interested in handling the fiscal aspects of employment, including payroll, tax filings and payments, workman's compensation, unemployment insurance, etc. Call Career Connections – We will be the employer of record and take care of all the paperwork.

Prices

We charge a markup on the employee's gross pay. You tell us how much you want the person to be paid, we will pay that amount and bill you that amount plus our markup. Average markups range from 28% to 45%. The markup depends on the workman's comp rate and other risk factors. Discounts may be applied for multiple employees and lengthy assignments. We consider all factors and quote an exact markup for your approval before an assignment begins.

Special Arrangements

Typically, these are hourly positions and the employee turns in a time slip each week; we pay the employee weekly and bill you biweekly. But we can make other arrangements as needed: salary, commission, mileage and expense reimbursement, different pay schedules, etc

How to Place an Order

First, negotiate the pay rate and other details with the worker you have chosen. Then, call and give us the basics:

  • The worker's name.
  • The start date and estimated duration of the assignment.
  • Job title and brief description of duties.
  • The hourly rate at which you want the worker to be paid.

Then send the worker to our office to complete the required paperwork; the process takes about 15 minutes. He/she will be asked to:

  • Provide basic contact information on our application.
  • Complete a W-4 and State of Ohio exemption certificate for tax filings.
  • Provide the proper documentation to complete an I-9 form for which most people use a driver's license and Social Security card or a U.S. Passport. (There are several other options; have the employee call us for details.)


Important Policies

If the individual you refer to us for a PTP assignment has already registered with Career Connections for temporary or permanent placement within the previous six months, the discounted markup may not apply. All PTP employees are required to read and sign an addendum agreement to the Career Connections employee handbook that makes them aware of the following conditions:

  • They are not eligible for holiday pay and longevity bonus benefits paid to other qualified Career Connections personnel.
  • They are not eligible for any other jobs through Career Connections after this job ends unless they complete and pass our full screening process.

Do not allow anyone to start work until:

  • You have spoken with us directly to confirm the details of the assignment.
  • The worker has been to our office and completed the registration process.

Any hours worked before these minimal requirements are satisfied are not insured and may not be payable/ billable.

Because we do not perform background or skills checking on the individuals referred to us for PTP assignments, they are not covered by our published satisfaction guarantee, nor do we suggest you charge them with any major responsibility until you've performed your own background checks.

We reserve the right to refuse employment to anyone about whom we have good reason to believe will be a liability to Career Connections, Inc.
